Rick Wood is a Los Angeles based writer, musician, recording engineer and occasional stand-up comedian.

Born in Milwaukee and raised in Virginia he joined the Air Force straight out of high school to get out into the world and away from home as quickly as possible. After that stint, he moved to Chicago to cut his teeth in what was left of the folk and singer-songwriter scene. From there a few years in Door County Wisconsin introduced him to a quantity and quality of like minded musical compatriots through pat macdonald, The Holiday Music Motel and Steel Bridge Songfest in Sturgeon Bay.

Soaking up as much as possible about songwriting, recording, and performing in the company of the likes of, Jackson Browne, Jane Weidlin, James Hall, James McMurtry, Billy Triplett, Kim Manning, Delaney Davidson and other people with names of varying recognition.

In 2010 he formed the brief but bright alt rock trio Abnormal Cattle alongside Dan Smrz and Nate Lang. They recorded a fulllength LP “Figure 1” released Dec. 2010. Shortly after the band went on an indefinite hiatus due to some legal trouble with their drummer. During this time Rick began to pursue standup while waiting on the band getting back together. What happened instead is in early 2012 Rick packed up and headed out to Los Angeles.

After a various writing gigs for awards shows, punch up, and animated shorts he landed a gig at MTV’s Ridiculousness which eventually led to unionizing the show’s writing staff and joining the Writer’s Guild.

During that time Rick began releasing music as Lone Jogger, and formed a live band for the project. He’s also produced records for various artists including, D.B. Rouse, Kevin Koplar, The Makeouts and horror rock outfit Drac and The Swamp Rats.

Aside from that he enjoys painting, photography, and insanely long walks with minimum destination and maximum caffeination.
