I moved to Los Angeles under the impression that there would be a lot of very creative thinkers with original ideas, and that opportunities to make cool things would be abound.
I did not account for how much time I’d end up spending just talking about doing things or sitting home alone between temp jobs trying to get ahold of anyone who wants to just film something, or write something or do anything even if it’s not very creative or original.
EATING… that’s the one thing you can count on getting people to do. I’ve spent more time in diner booths out here than I have in the rest of my life combined. I’ve watched more meals get eaten than I’ve watched movies. Everyone loves to sit in the diner and talk about doing the stuff they should be doing while they aren’t doing it.
So today I had plans, and those plans involved someone else, as most creative work outside of stand-up does require more than one person. Those plans fell through and I was left with a large amount of time that I didn’t want to pis away on the internet or watching Netflix.
I probably could have done several things more productive than what I did. There are projects I need to finish and this apartment isn’t exactly the cleanest it could be, but it doesn’t matter because this is what I did do.
